Pathways to Medicine Club Explores Biomedical Research

Students learned about genetic editing and its applications to the real world. Though not a conventional career in medicine, students were able to learn about the biomedical researchers who make new discoveries every day that inform the way doctors practice medicine. Thank you to Sharon Bright and the Whitehead Institute for hosting us.

The student-led Pathways to Medicine club has 42 members representing grade levels from 7-12. Says the club's founder, PHA senior Nysha Cimea, "Many students at PHA are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field but they don't have a platform to express that interest or become more exposed to the field. My club advocates for students who want to pursue medicine through attending events and activities related to healthcare, biology, research, etc."
