PHA in the News

On May 8th, Prospect Hill Academy Charter School (PHA) was named one of 220 schools from 38 states across the country to receive a $5,000 grant through the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries. This year, the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries awarded over $1 million in library grants.

Prospect Hill Academy Charter School Boys basketball finished their season hosting and winning the first round of MIAA State D5 Tournament. Some other accomplishes to mention are, it was their first MCSAO Championship game they played in since 2011 (14years ago) and Dennis Orellana made Coach of the Year for the second time. Their league is split in 2 divisions North and South and they were Regular Season Champions for North Division. As part of learning about checks and balances in government, fifth graders at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School in Somerville participated in a simulation where they were either Supreme Court justices or representatives in Congress and debated and voted on proposed bills.

For the fifth year, members of the Kiwanis Club of Somerville delivered over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies for distribution to high school students who are most in need of assistance. The students who will receive these backpacks will be identified by the staff at Somerville High School and the administrators at Prospect Hill Academy.
