Our 9th graders had an amazing hands-on learning experience while on their trip to The Farm School in Athol on May 8th-10th. Students were tasked with running all aspects of the farm: cooking meals, working in the garden, the forest, and the barn, and caring for the farm animals. They chopped wood, helped prepare fields for planting, milked cows, and spent entire days outside in nature. The students came away from the experience with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world as well as the intensive labor of farming and agriculture.

In February, our 5th graders began a 10-week playwriting and performance residency with the Central Square Theater to write, perform, and film original plays about historical figures who inspire them. On June 7th, our scholars traveled to Central Square for a group viewing of the final student performance videos in the theater. Students then voted on awards for best script, editing, acting and overall performance, with several groups receiving awards.

PHA's spring session of adult English classes for PHA families ended on May 18th with a culminating graduation ceremony for all participants. Designed for beginner or intermediate students, the classes focus on school-related conversations and vocabulary in order to support family involvement in their child’s education at PHA and to improve home-school communication.

Prospect Hill Academy was once again named a Best High School by U.S. News & World Report in their annual rankings. PHA was also named one of the top 100 public high schools in Massachusetts.

On May 4th, PHA held our annual International Night event, one of two annual PreK-12 community events (the other being Fall Fest) held during the school year. PHA students, families, staff, and community members enjoyed a memorable evening celebrating our global and multicultural PHAmily with a delicious meal and performances from around the world.
